Dusty Mayer III –
My husband had it standing on our stainless steel outdoor cart to preseason and enough oil dripped to the table surface to make the feet really slippery. He couldn’t hear me screaming through the closed window as it worked its way forward and tipped off the 30 inch stand. It’s okay though. Only the ash catching tray got a little dented.Still works great and it holds heat for cooking quite nicely. Upgraded to five stars. Great value for the price!

The pros: It’s a good size for 2-4 people. Assembly wasn’t bad, although one hole was poorly tapped and stripped the screw. The adjustable height is a great feature, and the front door for adding charcoal is convenient. It is very good for car-camping, picnicking, and can even be used at home. The metal body should hold up a while before rusting, although stainless steel would be a nice improvement. The bad: the plastic handle on upper vent melted immediately. The plastic caps atop the legs melted where they touched the body. The grill grate is poor, cast iron would be better. The lid needs a latch for transport, as does the ash tray. The lid handle gets hot, should have a spiral handle like door latch.Overall, it seems to cook well. It has some convenient features and is a practical size for different uses. But there are a few quality issues that could be improved for better value. It’s much better than 3 stars, barely rates a 4. With just a few improvements it would be an easy 5.

Assembly is extensive 25ish pieces each involving an average of about three screws. Figure an hourDesign is very clever. The only ding there is the use of cotter pins to secure the lid. The “axle” is in a tight interior space and securing the cotter pins is not easy. I spent about five minutes on the second one. Otherwise this is a terrific assembly designMy grade is 97/100Another part of the equation is precise machining. Even a great design is frustrating if holes don’t line up. There was only one issue and it was minor. I’m going 97/100 againThe last piece of the puzzle is instructions. These were good not great. Only the legs are identified with stickers and it’s a shame that all of the major parts weren’t treated similarly. It would have made life easier because not every part was obvious from the included line drawings in the assembly instructions. Overall 93/100For context, I hate these projects. However this grill was perfect for me so I bought despite knowing the assembly would be more time consuming than I preferThe final product feels very sturdy despite my limited assembly skills. If you have the patience this is a good grill to this point. The features and build quality indicated that it should cook very well and it did on the maiden voyage. Very hot lump charcoal put a great sear on a ribeye and the warming rack allowed a 15 minute roast to perfect medium rareAsh management and heat control are both very good

Grill looks great, assembly takes a little patience, all screw holes lined up perfectly.Grill body and lid could be a little thicker steel but good quality. Grill is larger than i imagined.Instructions were easy to follow and even had lots of grilling and cooking tips.I’m really happy with this purchase.

Works great! I’ve always preferred charcoal grilling and this one is perfect for smaller groups. I cooked four half-pound burgers and five hotdogs at once. It’s easy to handle and easy to clean.
